STEEL COLUMN BASE CONNECTIONS

Introduction:
Calculation in Steel column base is special problem in steel connections, which shows interaction between steel column and reinforced concrete pier under, 02 types of building materials, unlikely force bearing capacities. Properties of column base connections are depended on structural schema and decision of design engineer in geometrical structure, also.
Generally, column base connection is classified into typicals
- Hinged connection
- Fixed connection
In CDFSOFTWARE, the connections are shown in types which corresponding in steel profile used in production of column bases. As followings,
- Column bases for profile UC, UB, WC và WB (Universal column/beam, Weld column/beam). In advance for software users, the software has option for definiting profile section by the users
- Column bases for profile PFC
- Column bases for profile CHS, RHS and SHS (Circular / Rectangular / Square hollow section)
All calculations are:
- Checking base plate
- Checking welded lines
- Checking bolts
- Checking reinforced concrete pier

How to use:
- For input data from other software (as ETAB, SAP2000)
- Copy & paste as user’s notes in data sheets. In there, users have to options for copying: 1) Column base force; or 2) Base reactions.
- Enter command buttons for checking data and the software will select automatically critical combinations / loads as Nmax, M2max, M3max, V2max, V3max… in respectively
- Calculaltion steps
- Checking V2max and V3max in case of Earthquake resistance engineering design
- Users assign elements / column bases / supports need to be design
- Enter buttons for calculating
- Calculation review and Optimise designed structures
- Enter buttons for calculating
- See sotfware notifications for checking structures safe /or fail. This based on rate percent (%)
- Input / change data by manual for optimizing structural bearing capacity, if need.
